Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

Your initial session will be 45 minutes (Physiotherapy) or an hour (Physio led Pilates). This time allows your therapist to conduct a detailed assessment of your current complaint, discuss your treatment goals, your therapist’s clinical diagnosis and their recommended treatment options. We also aim to provide you with your first treatment, home exercises or advise. Follow up treatments are usually 30 minutes. We pride ourselves on providing client centred, quality care so offer longer appointment times on request.

HOW DO I FUND MY TREATMENT?

We accept referrals from both self-paying and insured patients. We are registered with all major insurance companies. Some insurance companies require a referral from the GP prior to authorising physiotherapy so please check with your insurance company first. We are happy to provide itemised receipts for patients wishing to claim against cash health schemes. At present, we only accept cash and cheques.

DO I NEED TO WEAR OR BRING ANYTHING SPECIFIC TO MY SESSIONS?

It might be necessary for you to remove some clothing so your physiotherapist can assess you properly. You may want to wear a vest top or bring a pair of shorts with you.

If you have any scans, X-rays, reports or information about your medication please do bring them to your first session.

If you are an insured patient please bring your membership number and authorisation code.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This is difficult to predict as multiple factors influence your response to physiotherapy. However, your therapist will try to envisage how may sessions may be required until you will see an improvement after your detailed assessment.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PROGRESS IS NOT AS ANTICIPATED?

On some occasions conditions can be too advanced or complex for physiotherapy to address on its own therefore, we may need to refer you for scans, x-rays or to see a Consultant. If your therapist feels further investigation or third party involvement would be beneficial then this would be clearly explained to your prior to gaining your consent. We can refer to the NHS via your GP or privately to Doctors and Surgeons we have experience of working with.

CANCELLATION AND NON ATTENDANCE POLICY

If you are unable to attend your appointment please provide 24 hours notice by either phone or email. Failure to provide the required notice or failure to attend a booked appointment will result in you being charged a Cancellation / Non Attendance Fee of £20.

CAN I SPEAK DIRECTLY WITH MY PHYSIOTHERAPIST?

Yes, if you do need to discuss your treatment we will happily speak with you on the phone when we are free or via email.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA CHARGES?

We have a supply of small equipment e.g resistance bands, massage balls and K-Tape if your physiotherapist suggests these may aid your recovery (they can be purchased from other suppliers).
